Information Technology (I.T.)

We understand……..Accuracy is Key.

Information Technology

Merriam Webster’s dictionary states “Information Technology involves the development, maintenance, and use of computer systems, software, and networks for the processing and distribution of data.” Today many systems exist for managing data used to run manufacturing and distribution organizations across the world. As such, software selection and maintenance, are a key driver in the success of a modern company. Computer systems, software, servers and wireless infrastructure are significant investments for a company that need to be managed carefully. Your information, or lack of information, will have a major impact on the company as it competes for business and reacts to market changes.

AREAS of I.T.

Today, company information has been categorized into some of the following areas of applications as defined by the Gartner Group:

Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMIS)

Business applications for the management of HR-related transactions, best practices and enterprise reporting. Functions typically include core HR tracking, payroll and benefits. The scope is often extended to include recruiting, competency management, training, time management, performance management and self-service offerings.

Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

A software application that helps manage the operations of a warehouse or distribution centre offering capabilities such as receiving, put-away, stock locating, inventory management, cycle counting, wave planning, order allocation, order picking, replenishment, packing, shipping, labor management and automated materials-handling equipment interfaces. These systems incorporate mobile devices along with bar code and, possibly, RFID scanning/sensing to form the transactional foundation of a WMS

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

A system that enables strategy, and identifies and manages customer relationships, in person or virtually.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

An integrated suite of business applications that share a common process and data model, covering broad and deep operational end-to-end processes, such as those found in finance, HR, distribution, manufacturing, service and the supply chain.

Quality Management Systems (QMS)

The business management system that houses internal quality policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). It is the backbone of industry compliance and quality assurance.

Additional systems may include E-Commerce, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) and management for search engines and social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Master Data Management (MDM) is also a major concern where all of the systems above may depend on common master data that needs to be kept synchronized across the application landscape.
